Job Description Sets up and operates machine tools Fits and assembles parts Uses machinists hand-tools repairs the following: metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, gauges and fixtures. Applies knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop math, metal properties and layout, machining and assembly procedures. Studies blueprints of product and die, prototype products, and die models. Lifts machined parts manually or with a hoist and positions them on the die shoe for assembly; dowels and bolts parts together. Shapes, smoothes, and fits flat and contoured surfaces of die members and parts according to required tolerances. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearance of members and parts in die, using various instruments. Fit and assembles components for mechanical action within die.
