About the OpportunityWe are currently seeking to employ an Executive Sous Chef to join our team in New Albany, Ohio, on a full-time basis.
The ability to work evenings, weekends and flexible hours is required.
As our new Executive Sous Chef, your position is extremely important, not only for our Club members, but in facilitation of the critical success factors for the entire culinary operation.
This role requires a visionary leader with the personal and professional skill sets required by a multipronged, multi-platform, forward-thinking food service operation.
Success in the position starts with a genuine passion for cooking, effective communication, and a simultaneous love for team success merged in producing incredible cuisine.
Your essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in the hiring, supervising, training and developing of kitchen personnel.
Assisting the Executive Chef to oversee the production of all food and pastry for la carte restaurants, carryout/delivery operation, catering functions, caf & pool operations (along with sous chef team).
Leading a team of experienced sous chefs in menu development & production development.
Preparing reports, arranging employee schedules and cost menus, payroll processing and other administrative duties.
Responsible for food purchasing, product specifications, standardized recipes and the safe storage, sanitation, and security of product.
Maintaining a team approach to all that extends beyond culinary into other departments.
Working as part of a team with front-of-the-house, catering, caf and satellite staff.
Communicating a compelling and consistent vision for the culinary operation.
Maintaining and advancing systems to ensure the food comes out of each kitchen with great efficiency and on a timely basis, so member experiences are consistently excellent.
Enthusiastically interacting with staff members and Club membership, while leading with honor and respect.
Assisting the Executive Chef with budgeting and planning effectively, monitoring actual financial results, and taking corrective action as necessary to ensure financial goals are met.
Maintaining cleaning and sanitation schedule consistent with ServSafe guidelines.
Demonstrating values, conduct, and integrity consistent with the Club's caring philosophy.
Approaching the position with humility and the mindset of a servant leader who cares for others above self.
Ideal AttributesIn order to qualify for this role, you will need a certification and/or college degree in Culinary Arts, as well as 5-7 years of experience as a Chef or Kitchen Manager with a proven track record of growth.
In addition, 3-5 years of supervisory and management experience, including hiring staff, coaching, performance management of daily operations, discipline and counselling, is required.
You must also be certified in ServSafe Food Services and have current certification from the American Culinary Federation or other hospitality association.
As our ideal candidate, you will have the innate ability to build a professional and friendly kitchen environment that is respectful of all Club personnel, membership and management, and that upholds our culture of honesty, hard work and professionalism.
You are able to handle multiple priorities, delegate assignments to appropriate individuals, and have competent organizational and time management skills.
You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel), inventory/recipe build software, and the ability to learn new applications is also needed.
Above all, you must have a genuine passion for the profession coupled with high integrity, maturity and tactfulness.
