Applications Manager

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for all application engineering activity for the division to ensure our proposals include sound technical solutions and to ensure our technical risk is minimized to provide the best opportunity to achieve targeted gross margins for the division.

Responsibilities:

Sales activities
oResponsible for reviewing sales proposals completed by Applications Engineers including proposal drawings, risk assessment, internal pricing sheets and written budgetary and firm quotations
oExecute a risk management process to minimize our financial exposure
oParticipate in prospective customer visits
oCoordinate with sales account managers
oAlert management to customer and quotation exposures

Administrative activity
oCoordinate the preparation of sales proposals to include written budgetary and firm quotations
oCoordinate the development of new / improved applications tools
oAssign personnel to quotation activities
oCoordinate with the Project Operations Manager to make Project Manager assignments for quote reviews (as needed)
oCoordinate the Applications Department staffing requirements within the division

Post sales activities
oParticipate in project kickoff meetings to clarify any quotation questions, as needed
oParticipate in design and concept review meetings, as needed
oParticipate in post-project reviews

Communications
oPreside over the weekly Applications Review Meeting
oPreside over the inquiry screening meetings (include technical department heads and technical resources as required)
oGeneral Manager - Provide weekly progress updates; alert to general problems or concerns; request assistance with quotations (as needed)
oApplications Engineers - Maintain contact throughout the proposal development

EDUCATION:

A BS degree specializing in technology, engineering or equivalent

Experience:
A working knowledge of AutoCad, Solidworks and Microsoft applications for business is preferred. Must have ability to work with and communicate effectively at all levels within the company and with senior client officials.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
oThe employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
oExert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
oVisual Acuity - Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
oHearing Ability - Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
oWorking Conditions - The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor.

oDemonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance
oHold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process
oEnsure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained
oCarry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements
oEnsure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrix
oImplement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts
oEnsure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition
oProvide information, instruction and supervision to employees
oTake every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees

Salary Range ($)
$90,000 - $99,999Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
