EDUCATION SPECIALIST

In order to qualify, experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions. to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1701 General Education and Training series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Successful completion of a Bachelor or higher degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes providing general admissions and program eligibility counseling to those seeking admission and performs academic assessments and review of records for the purpose of admission or denial of admission. OR EDUCATION:
Successfully completed at least 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a PhD or completion of a PhD or equivalent graduate degree. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Equivalent combination of Graduate level education and Specialized experience as described above. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-09 grade/level or equivalent position in the federal service. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE:
Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Professional knowledge of graduate education, Air Force-sponsored graduate education and training, Air Force educational requirements, and diverse civilian university programs to include:
a. Knowledge of all aspects of AFIT and Civilian Institution academic and student support programs/processes and their relationships with civilian academic programs and practices. b. Air Force line, legal, and chaplain graduate education programs. c. Pertinent law, regulation, policy, guidelines, and economic principles as they relate to AFIT and Civilian Institution operations with specific emphasis on line, legal, and chaplain programs. A bachelor's degree is required, although a master's degree is desired. Education in and/or knowledge of technical, social science and humanities disciplines and knowledge of legal and chaplain programs/disciplines is highly desired as the position manages graduate education programs that involve multiple disciplines for the line, legal, and chaplain career fields of the Air Force. Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices relating to line, legal, and chaplain post baccalaureate/professional degree and graduate education administration. Ability to effectively and efficiently plan, organize, and prioritize/reprioritize workload to meet mission requirements. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including preparing/conducting briefings is required to administer and provide customer service to line, legal, and chaplain graduate students. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
